It’s the middle of the night. You hear that familiar, chest-tearing cough echoing from their room — and you rush in to find them sitting up, face red, chest heaving, struggling for a clear breath.
They look up at you with tired, teary eyes that silently plead, “Mommy, make it stop.” Out comes the noisy nebulizer that terrifies them; you force down another dose of sticky syrup. They cry, they resist, and you feel like the bad guy — knowing it merely masks the problem before the wheezing starts again.
Then the painful realization hit me: I was treating the symptoms while ignoring the root cause. If we don’t clear that deep-seated phlegm and rebuild their tiny respiratory systems, the cycle never ends.
